Tuatapere eco-tourism advocate Joyce Kolk thinks everyone should set up pest control traps in their own backyard.

But when your backyard extends across hundreds of kilometers that philosophy proves difficult.

Luckily for Kolk and partner Johan Groters of Wairaurahiri Jet, they were able to get some funding to help them along.

They received $32,000 from the Conservation Community Partnership Fund to replace about 300 pest traps along the south coast of the Wairaurahiri River and Hump Ridge Track.
